The European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) aims to increase Europe’s cyber capabilities and competitiveness and works with the Network of National Coordination Centres (NCCs) of each member country to create a strong cybersecurity community.
In addition, together with the Network of National Coordination Centres (NCCs), it seeks through the new European framework to support innovation and industrial policy in cybersecurity.
The ECCC and the Network of NCCs will take strategic investment decisions and pool resources from the EU, its Member States and, indirectly, industry to improve and strengthen cyber technology and industrial security capabilities, reinforcing the EU’s open strategic autonomy.
It also plays a key role in achieving its ambitious cybersecurity objectives, inter alia by providing funding through the European Digital Europe and Horizon Europe programs.
At the same time, it facilitates cooperation and exchange of expertise and capabilities between all relevant stakeholders.
At European level, the Regulation provides that the ECCC has a Strategic Advisory Board as an advisory body, which consists of 20 members. The Strategic Advisory Committee provides advice in the context of a regular dialogue between the ECC and the Community, which is composed of representatives of the private sector, consumer organisations, academia and other stakeholders.
The members of the Commission shall have expertise in research, industrial development and the provision/implementation of professional services or products in the field of cybersecurity.
The Strategic Advisory Board may invite representatives of the European Commission and other EU institutions, in particular ENISA, to participate in and support its work.
The headquarter of the ECCC is located in Bucharest.
